Over city parks where trees<\/p>\n
are whispering solitude<\/p>\n
Their leaves still full of children’s laughter<\/p>\n
of these days and weeks gone by<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over empty sidewalks and cafes<\/p>\n
Over stacked-up tables and chairs<\/p>\n
Over pavement that speaks a thousand words<\/p>\n
A million footsteps that still echo<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over stairs that hum the song<\/p>\n
of sacred adaptation<\/p>\n
Over rigid souls that melt<\/p>\n
before the gift of time<\/p>\n
Over gardens where acceptance grows<\/p>\n
I’ll rise, to get to you, you, you, you<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over fields of yellow, fields of green<\/p>\n
of life that must remain unseen<\/p>\n
And roads that seem to stretch into<\/p>\n
the outskirts of our minds<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over undulating hills and<\/p>\n
over rivers that run dry<\/p>\n
Over mountaintops of white<\/p>\n
Over treetops through the night<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over seas that roll their waves<\/p>\n
upon the broken land of man<\/p>\n
Over depths of blue<\/p>\n
where life surges on<\/p>\n
Over soil awaiting seeds of hope<\/p>\n
I’ll fly, to get to you, you, you, you<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over balconies where<\/p>\n
flowers whither and voices bloom<\/p>\n
And over roofs of plenty, roofs of hunger,<\/p>\n
roofs of harmony and roofs of strife<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over roofs of sickness, roofs of health,<\/p>\n
roofs of work, roofs of play<\/p>\n
Over buildings that heave with toil<\/p>\n
by brave, exhausted shoulders<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
Over hearts that beat<\/p>\n
in spaced apart rhythms of longing<\/p>\n
Over carpets worn by knees<\/p>\n
that bend in supplication<\/p>\n
With the birds who’ve claimed their space at last<\/p>\n
I’ll fly, to get to you, you, you, you<\/p>\n
